When dreaming up my next shoot I wanted it to have a personal connection to me. I was inspired by key heirloom pieces that had been in my family and newer pieces that had been gifted to me from my Grandparents in Italy (these will no doubt become Heirlooms one day too).
Drawing on my Italian heritage I wanted to keep the style elegant and refined with subtle hints to Italian culture and traditions. Crochet has always been a part of Italian culture, if you’ve ever been to Sorrento you’ll no doubt have seen linens with crocheted edges ranging to full crocheted bed covers! I wanted to subtly nod to that and so had crocheted ties for the Olive wreaths made and used linen with a delicate crocheted edge.
I also wanted to hint at the colour yellow, not in association with lemons(!!), but because I find it is a colour that doesn’t often get executed well. I wanted to show that yellow can be elegant and it can be beautiful when done properly. Bride and Bloom did a wonderful job with my brief, just look at these…
The dress was made by fellow Italian, Sienna, who is the most exquisite dress maker, I absolutely love her designs and what she made for this shoot was just perfect!
Then where do I start with Charlotte Tillyer MUA, everyone needs her in their life. She is amazing! I asked for paired back Italian Elegance and she nailed it with the hair and make up.
Here are a few more images from the shoot which was featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs in September…
